ok i need some help

bunny’s friends from overseas are in town for a couple of days next weekend, and i’m cooking for them on sunday! problem being: i can’t decide what to make. yes, i want to impress them, and yes, i’m a 5 year old child whose ego needs a serious boost every weekend or so. why do you think i post my photos on flickr and why do you think we hold so many dinner parties!

anyway. i’ve heard that they don’t like spicy food that much (so no local chilli nonsense – and i assume this also means i can’t make my bak kut teh since i love it SUPER peppery) and she really likes italian food. i’m thinking of doing a pasta dish for the main course, but i can’t figure out what sauce to do! i’d love to do a decadent lobster or seafoody ravioli which i think would knock everyone’s socks off, but i generally don’t trust the majority of seafood sources in singapore, plus we have another dinner party on saturday so i’ll need it to be something that doesn’t take 3 days of preparation (like my stupid 9 course dinner last month).

here’s where you guys come in: does anyone have a fail-safe pasta recipe (i’m gonna be making the pasta from scratch, so noodly types, ravioli, silk handkerchiefs or parpadelle would be preferable.. i haven’t figured out how to make fusilli yet haha) that’s pretty fancy-looking, tastes absolutely divine, and doesn’t take too long to prepare? otherwise, does anyone have a seafood supplier to recommend – preferably one that will give me live lobsters, prawns or REALLY FRESH scallops, as well as one that doesn’t require me to drive to get there (like Giant at Turf Club which sells live prawns but is a fucking nightmare to get to)? failing that, would anyone like to be my chauffeur and drive me to turf city on sunday morning? i would offer you food in return but that’d be subject to when the next available weekend is. at the rate things are going, that’ll be in may or june?

i have 6 days!

edit: problem solved, i’ve come up with a menu with christina’s help :) now everybody join hands and pray that it goes well – it’s rather fussy, i don’t have THAT much time, and i’ve never done any of the items on the menu before (except the panna cotta).
