Dear Rufus

I know it’s no fun having to take meds. I know you think I’m torturing you when I wrap you up in a towel (so you can’t claw me – even though you still manage to), and when I stick a pill or squirt the antibiotics into your mouth. I also know that even more than all that you really hate being held down while I drop eyedrops or squirt meds into your eyes and ears. I know you really hate the eyedrops especially. They must sting, and I’m sorry that I have to do that. Keep reading →

The Best Roast Spuds

I love potatoes. In fact, I’ve been known to start singing when I have a plate of hot, freshly cooked potatoes sitting in front of me! And I love them done in almost all possible ways – pommes dauphinois, pommes frites, pommes purée, pommes sarladaise (ooh, especially pommes sarladaise), all of it. Sadly, the young master is also a little on the scrawny and weedy side, and as nurse duties have fallen to yours truly, I reckon I won’t be cooking anything blog-worthy (besides maybe food for the cat) for a bit. So anyway stick around – I’ll pepper this site with more pictures of the sweetheart anyway to keep your interest piqued :P

Lane Crawford is a shopping haven for the well-heeled in Hong Kong. If you’re not familiar with the brand, think of a department store, then replace every single item in it with luxury brands, like Prada, Zegna, and a few dozen other less-known (but equally expensive) ones.

But we’ve already established that I’m not really into clothes. Nor bags, nor shoes, nor any of the usual wallet-killers. So what does Lane Crawford have over me? In particular, I’d direct your attention to the store at Pacific Place – which is where they conveniently house their Home & Lifestyle section. Along with a particular set of antique crockery, they also have the most awesome designs for flatware, glassware and tableware. Keep reading →

Happy Boxing Day!

Really, I just wanted an excuse to put a picture of some trash up. :) Also, it’s sorta Christmassy, right?
