Normal posting (and by that I mean sporadic posting where I try to forget that I’ve been ignoring this blog so I don’t feel so guilty) will resume shortly. After the last post, it took me all the way until two days ago before my MBP was in any shape to use, and I’m pleased to report that (no thanks to CASE – the utterly and wholly ineffectual Authorized Apple Service Provider in HK) she’s finally alive and well, and one of the things I was up last night doing was going through the backlog of photos that need to be slotted into these draft posts that are Ready and Waiting. (So hopefully the posting won’t be quite so sporadic.)

But in the meantime, I hope you like that picture of Toby. :) Two of my closest friends back home made me that shirt (in regular human size) and made this ridiculously cute tiny version, which we didn’t think about stuffing Rufus into until he was too fat. Toby’s just malleable enough to tolerate us, and looked quite fetching in it. Plus, if you ask me, his expression has a rather appropriate amount of blasé, I do think. In case you can’t quite make it out, the teeshirt reads, “There is no charge for AWSUMNESS” – a quote from the movie Kung Fu Panda. And yes, the spelling was intended. :D

Where, apparently, your right hind leg should reach for the sky when you’re attacking a lens cap. In other words, HELLO OUR TWO NEW BABY KITTENSES! Tobias is the rather obscene one, and Seth his slightly scrawnier brother. (Their self-appointed godmother decided on the names, for those who are curious as to the outcome of my straw poll.)

Oh, and no, Mr Jealous & Possessive (aka Rufus) is not handling the newcomers’ arrival particularly well. But not too badly either, I’m sure he’ll get over it in a couple of days. (Also, he’s still the only one allowed in our bed/to shove our heads off our pillows with his rather generously sized rear end, so that should count for something?)

Anyhoo, I’m heading to Taipei this Friday for a weekend jaunt with J, and I’m pretty excited about it ‘cos I’ve never been there before! And there’s going to be so much food! I foresee 48 hours of eating ahead so perhaps this spell of tonsillitis I’m down with now was just a preemptive strike against the face-stuffing that’s to come. Either way, I will do my best to take pretty photos of all the delicious things we eat so look out for those hopefully sometime next week.

I know it’s no fun having to take meds. I know you think I’m torturing you when I wrap you up in a towel (so you can’t claw me – even though you still manage to), and when I stick a pill or squirt the antibiotics into your mouth. I also know that even more than all that you really hate being held down while I drop eyedrops or squirt meds into your eyes and ears. I know you really hate the eyedrops especially. They must sting, and I’m sorry that I have to do that.

But you see, Rufus, I love you. You’re such a cute bundle of joy (when it’s not medicine time), and you’re so warm and friendly with the way you can never wait for me to sit down in the beanbag before you pounce onto my lap and start crawling up onto your favourite perch (my shoulder) to nestle in closely to my neck and purr yourself to sleep while I watch TV. And I hate to see you sick. Which is really why I’m forcing all these awful tasting things into you – ‘cos I want you to get better. So you can grow up into a big strong cat and live many long years with me and bunny.

It’s strange how much I’ve come to love you in the 10 short days that you’ve been with us. I wonder what took me so long, but then again I’m glad I waited else I might not have picked you out. You with your creamy fur which ends in chocolate brown ears, nose, tail and paws. You with your expressive startling blue eyes. You with all your purring and love, you who stole my heart.

I love you baby rabbit. I hope you get well soon.

PS: I know you hate the collar but I happen to think you look unbelievably adorable in it. Even when you give me the angry-at-the-whole-world-that’s-out-to-get-you glare. :)

for my lack of proper recipes/food-bloggery-updates of late. And it’s a cute one. And I do have some half-written posts in the pipeline, but I’m a little distracted. Our family of two just got upgraded to a family of three, and we officially are parents to the diva-est, manja siamese kitten on the face of the earth. Sadly, the young master is also a little on the scrawny and weedy side, and as nurse duties have fallen to yours truly, I reckon I won’t be cooking anything blog-worthy (besides maybe food for the cat) for a bit. So anyway stick around – I’ll pepper this site with more pictures of the sweetheart anyway to keep your interest piqued :P
