Siem Reap Tour Guide

Posted in Uncategorized |

When I was in Cambodia last September, as part of my royal celebrations (haha), I met a wonderful tour guide - Narin. He’s just emailed me to tell me that he has set up a website at siemreaptourguide.com. Narin was an awesome host when I was there - whether it was waking up at some godforsaken hour to catch the sunrise, or recommending awesome places to eat and try authentic Khmer cuisine, he knew where to go and what to do. He also has the most incredible nose for weather, which was lucky since I was there towards the end of the rainy season. I still remember once when we trekked up to Phnom Bakheng to see the sunset, and while waiting around, he suddenly appeared out of nowhere and told me that he was 100% sure it was going to rain before the sun managed to set. I wisely chose to listen to him, packed up my stuff and scampered off. About 5 minutes after we got into the car and headed back for the hotel, the sky all but fell down on us. I kinda felt bad for the other tourists who’d so eagerly snapped up my spot. Hurhur.

He was also really helpful and kept insisting on helping me to carry my tripod - he even wanted to help carry my camera bag! But thankfully for him I’ve got attachment issues to my camera bag and couldn’t let go of it. ;p My shoulder wasn’t quite as happy though.

Anyway, if you’re ever in Siem Reap, or planning a trip to visit that beautiful town and its wondrous neighbour, the Angkor Archaeological Complex, do look him up. Photo buffs: Narin’s really the guy for you. One thing I really loved about having him as company was how he always knew to drag me over to some strange little corner where there’d be a beautiful picture, framed really nicely through the shrubbery. Saved a lot of braincells for the composition of my photographs. :)

I’m hoping to revisit Siem Reap one day soon, and bring bunny with me this time. We’ll definitely be giving Narin a call, and you should too.
