Happy 2007

Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »

I’m still jetlagged and I feel like I’ve been steamrolled after trying to take a (not-so) short nap. I have a feeling I might just sleep through the festivities while everyone else parties on to welcome the New Year in.

So give 2007 an extra shout for me will ya? (By ‘ya’ I’m referring to those sad sad folk out there who are still checking my blog at this time and not yet on your way to your NYE parties!)

Ok now time for me to go wake up so I can go for dinner. I probably shouldn’t push my reservation back for yet another hour.

You Know It’s Been A Good Holiday When…

You both don’t wanna leave yet can’t really wait to get home. I miss my bunny like crazy and hereby resolve never to travel without her again. Well, not NEVER, but.. I’ll try not to. Not for so long anyway.

Got to hang out with the nana’s friends in a comedy club and that was quite cool. Indon boys are very well brought up and I’m very enjoying being driven around. :D NYC is awesome and I half wish I’d be here for the well-known ball-drop, but oh well. I think I’d rather have a quiet NYE with my baby.

Ok enough mush, I’m going to change and go back to sleep. Last thing I wanna do is start drooping on my last day this far up the northern hemisphere.

See you all in a few.

Transatlanticism

So when it’s early in the morning and you’re about to go even further from your love who, theoretically, is already so far from you it really doesn’t make a difference, obviously the only thing for you to do is to think of the most emo song you can possibly summon from the depths of your being and play it on repeat. (Okay so 1000 Oceans by Tori Amos isn’t playing on iTunes now - it’s currently at Watch Them Fly Sundays by the Stereophonics, but you know what I mean.)

***

These tears I’ve cried, I’ve cried a thousand oceans.
And if it seems I’m floating in the darkness, well,
I can’t believe that I would keep, keep you from flying.
And I would cry a thousand more if that’s what it takes to sail you home.
Sail you home. Sail you home.

I’m aware what the rules are, but you know that I will run.
You know that I will follow you.
Over Silbury hill through the solar field.
You know that I will follow you.

And if I find you, will you still remember playing at trains,
Or does this little blue ball just fade away?
Over Silbury hill through the solar field.
You know that I will follow you.
I’m aware what the rules are, but you know that I will run.
You know that I will follow you.

These tears I’ve cried, I’ve cried a thousand oceans.
And if it seems I’m floating in the darkness, well,
I can’t believe that I wouldn’t keep you from flying.
So I would cry a thousand more if that’s what it takes to sail you home.
Sail you home. Sail you home. Sail you home.

***

I’ll be home soon. I love you, baby.

Amazing photos. Like simply amazing. This is probably the true meaning of post-processing. I mean seriously, check out his Outside and Geometry sets in particular. He’s just got an amazing eye! (I personally love his Smokers & Smokerettes set too but that’s just the emo side of me welling up at 9am.)

Up, Up, And Away!

Posted in Uncategorized | 3 Comments »

So it’s been a dreamlike 9 days, and after the past week and a half have flown by, it’s time for me to make my soujourn up north towards Rhode Island to meet my nana, before we head off to ski then hang out in Boston before the next half of my holiday is over.

This has probably been one of the best holidays I’ve had - visiting a city I’ve long dreamt of getting acquainted with, taking photos like a mad fiend (I need to tone that down now that I’m going to be computer-less), and hanging out with bunny’s friends. (I even managed to take control of the kitchen in the short time we’ve been here!)

Anyhoo, I thought it befitting to leave the Manhattan/NJ portion of the set with this scene that I shot from the Staten Island Ferry, a b/w of the southern tip of Manhattan Island, which kind of reminds me (and a couple of my friends) of the opening scene of CSI:NY. :)

I won’t be updating as frequently after this - since I don’t think I’m going to have such ready access to the internet - so the next time you hear from me at length will probably be after I’m done flooding flickr and max-ing out my January upload limit. Oh wait, I’m also going to be moving house then, so maybe you’ll only hear from me when I’ve got new complaints about the moving/delivery people. Hurhur.

So anyhoo, Merry Christmas everyone, hope you’re all enjoying your holidays as much as I am, and those of you back in Singapore who will be around and free around Christmas, go ring my bunny up and drag her out. It breaks my heart to think that she’ll be alone at home on Christmas Day (while I’m eating instant noodles with my nana) and keep her company ok? Thanks guys. :)

xxx

Edit: Hello from Brown, I’m getting sleepy and just popped by to add this - Bunny doesn’t want to be dragged out, but just check in on her now and then for me will you? I miss her loads already. :(

More Quotable Quotes

bunny: (of how our sick friend has only been eating jam-filled cookies and vegetable soup while she’s sick)

It’s okay - you’ve got a balanced diet.. proteins from your potatoes..

(She didn’t manage to finish the rest of her food pyramid ‘cos marshmallow and I were too hysterical by then.)

marshmallow: (who’s sick and stuck at home with us watching tv on a Saturday night while MH is at a friend’s birthday party)

Aww, this is no fun. Where’s husband to kick around when I’m in need of entertainment!

Random Observations #15

Posted in Uncategorized | 2 Comments »

I can’t believe freaking Rachael Ray says E-V-O-O (as in, “now we put some E-V-O-O into the pan;) when she actually wants to say “extra virgin olive oil”. Kill me now.

Oh. And exactly what is the point of using E-V-O-O when you’re going to plonk half a stick of butter into the same pan! And good god, woman, CLEAN YOUR MUSHROOMS!

Edit: OMG she sells her own brand of bottled all italian EVOO. Hahahahhahahaha
