Only way better. Check it out. (via belle)
I think I’m done with the Bali photos. The only ones I haven’t looked at yet are the ones of the villa, and frankly I don’t give a shit anymore. Ha. Have other photos that have been placed on hold thanks to these silly holiday ones. Maybe one day when I’m bored and have nothing to do I’ll do those.
Anyway, this is my favourite of the batch. The rest of the completed photoset is up, and can be viewed at this link. The 1000-odd pictures I took have been whittled down to 54, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking, and far more than I enjoyed choosing them. :p
this is the book i never read / these are the words i never said / this is the path i’ll never tread / these ar ethe dreams i’ll dream instead / this is the joy that’s seldom spread / these are the tears - the tears we shed / this is the fear, this is the dread / these are the contents of my head / and these are the years that we have spent / and this is what they represent
Suddenly attacked by a wave of emoitis, perhaps brought on in part by this song playing on repeat in my head, ever since I was rudely reminded of it when Shirlyn opened her concert with it last night. (Amazing concert, by the way, babe. I keep wanting to write about it but I just sound like some ridiculously embarrassing groupie so I will refrain for the time being.)
and this is how i feel. do you know how i feel?
Why must everything happen at the same time?! Singapore Theatre Festival is on from this coming week, August is IndigNation, aka pride month, and school is starting on the 14th of August! Add that with friends going back to far-away school-lands (and hence wanting to meet up before, all preferably before school starts), the 4th flickr SG meetup, and birthdays, parties, and more insobriety. Auuuughhh I’m very sorry all the people I’ve double-booked and had to cancel on. :( I’ve finally decided to write anything down so I promise it won’t happen again from today.
PS: Can everyone who’s arranged to meet me for dinner (especially in the coming week or two) PLEASE send me a text or email to double check with me once you see this in case I’ve been a shitty friend and forgotten? I’m very sorry. Will buy you a drink when I see you if I did indeed forget. Also, if you want to see me before school starts (great now I sound like Ms Popularity-Wannabe), I’m officially only free for lunch. Or coffee in the afternoon. Or maybe supper on selected days. Weekends are all out, and most dinners are booked. No money no time soon no more friends.
Website run by a Vietnamese photographer based in Canada. My favourite sets are the wedding shot with infrareds, pictures of Point Roberts, and the mad mexican. Did I manage to say amazing? View the rest of his stuff here and here.
Drunk. Die.
Shut up now.
So, the greedy bat picture somehow won me 3rd Prize in the second monthly competition. Coincides with the next SG Flickr Meetup which will be held at Gone Fishing Cafe in Hillview. Looks like I’m going to be very busy on 5th August - 1400h at Gone Fishing, 1700 at Porcorosso’s, then hopping over to a birthday/farewell/housewarming party.
Made chicken rice again for 2 of my favourite friends last night, and it was an evening filled with side-splitting laughter (as usual). Changed the recipe a bit and I think I’m satisfied with my modifications. :)
Now that I can cook both chicken rice and bak kut teh well, I started thinking about what I should next try to master. Nasi Lemak seems like the obvious choice, but it’s so mafan to make - there’s the sambal which will stink up the entire street, the fish to deep fry, omelette to shred, and don’t even get me started on squeezing coconut for the milk (no, I don’t believe in using packets of store-bought coconut milk) to cook the rice with. I’ll also have to look for ikan bilis to fry with the peanuts, and the beef rendang spells even more coconut-squeezing.
Perhaps I should try this “easy prawn laksa” recipe I just found in a magazine. Although, recipes that begin with “easy” or end with “for beginners” rarely taste the way I want them to.
What’s your favourite local food? Do you have a good recipe for it? Leave a comment and when I next get inspired, I’ll post my tweaked recipe for it.
Many useful, pretty things for the kitchen! Die already hoho.
