Iggy’s

Posted in Uncategorized |

So, now we know that they aren’t the top 98th restaurant in the world for nothing - not that our standards are really remarkably high. Impeccable service, ridiculously good food (where good doesn’t even begin to describe how good it was), and rather nice ambience (save the irritating group of businessmen who were trying to one-up each other on I’m-more-successful-than-you-are games).

For the uninitiated, Iggy’s (talked about here by much bigger foodie Chubby Hubby) is a 28-seater run by owner Ignatius Chan - who the restaurant happens to be named after. Fully booked every night, if you’re intending to get a table (on weekends, at least), you’re gonna have to call some two weeks in advance. With his german chef, Dorin Schuster, the former partner from Les Amis comes up with set menus for dinner that normally consist of 10 or more courses for a fixed S$150+++, wine not included.

Anyhoo, looking at all the pictures has gotten me hungry AGAIN, so if you’re interested to know what was on the menu last night, you can check out my photos here. Favourites included the quail stuffed with truffle risotto (pictured top left), and the sakura ebi cappellini with scampi oil (pictured right). My absolute favourite of the night was our pre dessert, a ridiculously light and creamy vanilla panna cotta, topped with candied tomatoes and basil ice cream - which strangely enough reminded me of macha ice cream.

So for those who can afford it, our verdict is officially in - go to Iggy’s, and go as soon as you can. All you need is an empty stomach. :) For those whose appetites (and wallets) aren’t quite as large, they also serve 2, 3 or 5 course lunches. This is one place I’m definitely revisiting. Soon.

Iggy’s is located on the 3rd floor of The Regent, Singapore. For reservations, call +65 6732 2234.

m: Haha it’s okay - I don’t post enough pictures of myself to warrant any stalkage. Hurhur. Welcome to the Chronicles! Must be frustrating, since there’s hardly any conflict (posted here), and we all know a story is never as good as its conflict.
