Bag It!

Posted in Uncategorized |

I know this is planning ahead, but one thing I like to do is plan for days (or weeks, or months) ahead what accessories I’m going to get for whatever new toys I’m getting, so they’re all decked out and ready to go once I have them in my greedy paws. (That reminds me, the semi-surprise of an iPod still needs a sleeping bag. I don’t know how long more the included white case will survive for.)

I can’t decide between Waterfield Bags, Timbuk2, and Crumpler. I’ve decided to stop disguising my PowerBook in my nondescript backpack, and get her a bag of her own, once I upgrade to a new one. (I’m currently using a 12″, and I’m looking to upgrade to a 15″ when I get a new one.)

For the Crumplers, it’s really a toss up between The Skivvy and The Considerable Embarrassment. The Skivvy’s a lot sleeker, but the Considerable Embarrassment can hold a lot more things, bla bla bla.

SFbags.com was giving me a much bigger headache - I love the airline buckle on the Cargo bag, but now they’ve got a new aircraft-paragliding buckle added to their wide range of choices. The Cargo Mambo Combo seems the obvious choice - I can use the sleeve on light days, or the cargo bag on need-to-lug-around-a-suitcase days, or stuff some clothes in with my powerbook on an overnighter somewhere. Then again, Vertigo’s pretty sweet, and even if I could decide on which main bag I wanted, I still would have to choose what add-ons to put on my sleeve-case. Leave it plain and simple, or add on a shoulder-strap, a piggy-back, a flap, or all of the above?

Timbuk2, like Crumpler, offers 2 choices: the Laptop Messenger, or the Metro. Or maybe I should just get the Metro separate from my laptop-toting needs. Or maybe I should just build my own bag.

This is beginning to sound unnervingly like my indecision over Moleskines. And I know I can’t afford to settle this one the way I did that problem - buy two, and keep my eyes open for more.

While I’m mulling over all that, here’s some cute stuff to look at. I think this PowerSquid Power Strip is really neat and handy! And the only reason I can think of wanting to have a baby is so that I can dress them up like this. (Sin, watch out - your number two is definitely going to be all podded up like that. ;p There’s no escaping!)

Hrm. Nope I posted it just before 8pm I think! Your computer lagginggggg.

Anyway now you’re spoilt for choice. I’m most inclined towards the waterfield bags, but I feel like choosing one of the others simply because i can’t decide what to do about the sleeve. Haha

poppy says get a waterfield. timbuk2 and crumpler are so… eergwhw. maybe that’s why i have 4 crumpler bags. (But hey it’s impossible to buy a decent looking bag that will take a laptop and camera and lenses and filters and…)

sin - But is very cute! :) We will ipod your baby.

MM - drafting me for what? Haha. I was looking through the categories, and I think it would be so sad if I actually got nominated for a WHINGEY blog. But sadly enough, I think that’s the only one I’d ever be eligible for. Nevermind. Be judge better. Haha.

poppy - I also like waterfield the best, but the shipping lahhhh. And I lazy to wait for all the US people to bring it back with them. When I order something I want it NOWNOWNOW! Rawr. Aiyah. Wait till I get a new laptop then see how lah right?

[...] Anyway I decided to do a quick tally-up and it seems that if I didn’t smoke for a year (and assuming cigarette prices didn’t go up - else that just increases my theoretical savings), I’d have enough money to buy the 16-35L lens, a tripod, a decent ballhead and still have loose change lying around to… I don’t know.. buy a new handphone. Or start a new bag fund. (Okay, starting a macbook pro fund would probably be more feasible.) Anyway. That’s a lot of money. [...]
