Unfortunately, sweet dreams are not what I’m having. In fact, I’m not having any dreams at all. Why am I awake at 3.11am on a Tuesday morning when I have no school on Tuesdays? I should be waking up closer to 3pm! This insomnia of late is unacceptable. I don’t like it, I don’t enjoy it, there’s nothing good that can come out of being awake at these stupid hours (save supper, maybe - on a post-clubbing stint), and I don’t want to be awake!
I want to be asleep. Curled up in bed, feeling the comforter - cool against your skin at first, and waking up (about 12 hours later at least, please!) to it bringing you warmth against the freezing air-conditioning (which, for some reason, isn’t freezing at all even though the thermostat’s set at 16 degrees!!) - enveloping you in all its soft glory, dreams seeping into your subconscious, taunting you and yet bringing a smile to your face after a horrifically long day, only to wake when the sunlight streams in, between the slates of your window blinds, announcing the arrival of the day.
But, it seems that is not to be, again. I hate being awake and watching the sky slowly brighten. I hate being so awake with nothing to do, and being completely unable to fall back asleep. I also hate that I’m out of cigarettes and that I forgot to buy a new pack, which means I can’t smoke and nua myself back into sleepyland.
Maybe I should take Steph’s suggestion and go to Raffles Medical (babe - there’s no clinic at Holland wot!). They prescribed her Valium, apparently, and it’s worked like a charm - she’s so chillaxed out now long after she stopped taking it. In fact, she sleeps like 12 hours a day, and doesn’t function properly without her 12 hours. Okay, I’m not so sure that’s such a good alternative, but right now anything sounds better than this, really.
Besides, being awake means that the mystery mosquito bites on my FEET (world’s most annoying place to have mosquito bites!! - except maybe under your bra strap, that’s quite annoying too) are ANNOYING the bejeezus out of me and it’s taking a fuckload of self-control to keep from biting my own damn feet off. That and I can’t really reach them with my mouth, but you know what I mean.
‘Twasn’t a blue Monday, indeed, but this is turning out to be a rather bleak Tuesday.

You sleep for 12 hours?!! Wow. I wish I had that many hours in a day to spend sleeping…

Haha no I don’t, unfortunately. But I’ve been sleeping about 3 hours of late and I was hoping to catch up since today’s my off day!
I have a friend who does though! I don’t understand how she does it either. :|

hmmm… i don’t know about the valium. i have a friend who got addicted and then immune—like, the damned thing stopped working for her and she got more insomniacky than ever. but that’s an extreme example lah, i know.

do you nap in the day? it can become a vicious cycle - not enough sleep at night, nap in day, can’t sleep at night. go out up a sweat in the evening; whatever does it for you. also, i find that the “last fag for the road” before bed can sometimes can keep you up.

vickiho - I know. I’m kinda reluctant to as well!
troubadix - Nope, I don’t nap in the day. I try to tire myself out as much as possible before sleeping, but I still wake up after a couple of hours!

Have you tried using a sleep mask and avoiding caffiene/sugar/cigarettes within 2 hours of going to bed? Some of my patients with insomnia say that doing that works wonders.

tscd - Yup, I have. Thing is, I don’t usually have a problem falling asleep - it’s staying asleep that kills. But thanks anyway :) It’s normally a seasonal thing lah. The insomnia just strikes every few months, hopefully it’ll be gone soon!

Have you tried Melatonin? It’s a dietary supplement helps to regulate sleep cycles.
Anyway, thanks for the mp3s.. enjoying them! ;)

H2 - Yep. Went thru a bit of a junkie-esque phase trying to find a remedy, and none of them work. Save for this one sleeping pill that knocked me out for like.. 17 hours! Heh. And you’re welcome. :)
